2022 Austrian Grand Prix chalk Max Verstappen won the 2021 race and it wasn’t close. Verstappen crossed the finish line 17 seconds ahead of second place finisher Valtteri Bottas. Lando Norris finished a surprising third while Lewis Hamilton was fourth and Carlos Sainz Jr. was fifth.

Sainz won the British Grand Prix last Sunday. In a surprise, Red Bull’s other driver, Sergio Perez, finished second. Lewis Hamilton was third. Charles Leclerc was fourth. Max Verstappen finished seventh behind Fernando Alonso in fifth and Lando Norris in sixth.

2022 Austrian Grand Prix Picks

Top Pick to Win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix

Who knows what may have happened in Great Britain. Maybe, we should have known Max Verstappen was ready to throw in a dud. He suffered a collision at the 2021 British Grand Prix. So there’s a chance the collision was in the back of Max’s head.

Not only that, but Verstappen had been driving so well, it made sense that he’d fail to hit the board. Verstappen and his crew have won 6-of-10. No doubt, Max wants to get back on the winning side and this happens at Red Bull’s track. The chalk is the top play.

Second Pick to Win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix

Most F1 handicappers believed Leclerc was the Ferrari driver that was going to win the British GP. But Carlos Sainz came up huge. The British GP was Sainz’s first victory of the year. But Carlos had been close, finishing second in Bahrain and in Monaco.

Sainz also finished third at both the Saudi Arabian GP and the Miami Grand Prix. Carlos drove well at the 2021 Austrian GP. He can put together back-to-back victories and warrants a long look.

Third Pick to Win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix

After the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton said Mercedes was close to winning a race. The victory could happen at the Austrian GP. So give Hamilton a chance. The reason he’s listed third and not first is because Hamilton finished fourth at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix.

Lewis is right that Mercedes is going to win soon. But it probably won’t be on Sunday. Still, if you like Hamilton, the odds are more than fair.

Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix

Norris raced well enough at the British GP to warrant top underdog consideration to win in Austria. The McLaren driver also had a fantastic 2021 Austrian GP.

Lando Norris finished third in this last year. So if you’re looking to back a massive longshot, Norris is the best play. He’s driving well, heads to a track where he has stepped to the podium, and offers huge odds. Norris shouldn’t win. But if you want to back a massive underdog, Lando is the best to back.
