The 2022 Hero World Challenge has been a staple of the PGA TOUR season since the start of the new millennium and has been a showcase of excellence for over two decades. Only the recent winners of major tournaments, the top players in the Official World Golf Rankings, and golfers with special invitations are allowed to participate in the event.
A huge prize pool worth $3.5 million is at stake in Albany, where the event has been held since 2015. Unlike the standard FexExCup points-based tournaments on the season, the prize breakdown of the Hero World Challenge’s top finishers has a different fixed payout structure, with the overall winner of the tournament set to take home a cool $1 million as opposed to the typical 18 percent cut of the prize purse for the top finisher at a standard PGA TOUR event.
