Sam Burns

  • 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds: +2,800

As the reigning champion of the Charles Schwab Challenge, it’s only proper that Sam Burns has decent sleeper odds to try and pull off a repeat at the Colonial. Burns is a two-time winner of the Valspar Championship, so it’s not far-fetched that he can accomplish a similar albeit rare feat. He also had a strong stretch this past March, picking up a solo sixth at the aforementioned Valspar Championship in Florida a week before winning the WGC Match Play in Austin, Texas; the same state where this week’s event is held.

Rickie Fowler

  • 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds: +3,300

It was a disappointing showing for Rickie Fowler at the PGA Championship, as he was cut from the tournament where many of his fans expected him to excel. Nevertheless, Fowler remains a regular in our weekly sleepers feature here as he’s been one of the more consistent golfers on the season, with eight top-20 finishes in his last nine starts prior to his lackluster showing in Oak Hill. That said, the three-time major runner-up could be in for a huge bounce-back performance to keep his momentum going heading into the U.S. Open two weeks from now.

Cam Davis

  • 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge Odds: +4,000

Having better fortune at the PGA Championship, meanwhile, is 28-year-old Aussie Cam Davis, who is invigorated heading into the Colonial thanks to a new personal best at a major tournament with his superb T4 finish last week in Oak Hill. The rising golfer from Sydney had just cracked the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in his career as well. Davis, with three top-10 finishes since mid-March, also finished tied for seventh in last year’s edition of the Charles Schwab Challenge, making him a more-than-appealing sleeper pick to win his first PGA TOUR event since July of 2021.
