2022 Geico 500 Recap

Ross Chastain moved from nineteenth place to first to grab the checkered flag. Austin Dillon followed Chastain in second.

Kyle Busch finished third followed by Kyle Larson in fourth and Martin Truex Jr. in fifth. Erik Jones finished sixth, Chase Elliott seventh, and Michael McDowell eighth. Alex Bowman finished ninth and Kevin Harvick tenth.

Top Choice to Win the 2023 Geico 500

The opening odds peg Joey Logano a second choice behind Ryan Blaney. But don’t be surprised if Logano ends up the chalk ahead of Blaney.

At Martinsville last week, Logano finished second. Joey won at Atlanta and then finished seventh at Richmond.

In this last year, Logano finished thirty-second. Joey won the race in 2018. The fact he’s

Second Top Choice to Win the 2023 Geico 500

The second choice is on fire. Kyle Larson has won 2 of the last 3 NASCR races. Larson grabbed the checkered flag at Richmond and then won last Sunday’s race at Martinsville.

Larson finished fourth in this last year. Larson, his crew, and their car are doing great. So we shouldn’t be surprised if Kyle makes it back-to-back victories.

Also, the odds are more than fair. If you agree, and don’t like Logano as much as we do, consider Larson a terrific alternative.

Third Top Choice to Win the 2023 Geico 500

Last year’s winner offers much better odds than he should for the repeat try. Ross Chastain moved his way up from a nineteenth start all the way to first at the 2022 GEICO 500.

Chastain is driving well enough that we should consider him a legit contender. Ross followed up a fourth-place finish at the Circuit of Americas with a third-place finish at Richmond Raceway.

Chastain crossed the line at Martinsville in thirteenth place. The defending champ is driving well enough to get it done for sure. Give Chastain a better chance to make it back-to-back GEICO 500 trophies than the +2500 odds indicate.

Top Underdog Choice to Win the 2023 Geico 500

Joe Gibbs Racing so far hasn’t had the season so many NASCAR handicappers expected. However, in the last two events, Martin Truex Jr. has picked it up big time.

Truex Jr. parlayed a seventh place finish over the dirt at Bristol into a third-place finish at Martinsville. At the 2022 GEICO 500, Martin Truex Jr. qualified second behind teammate Christopher Bell.

Martin ended up fifth. Truex Jr. is driving well enough where a victory is not impossible. If you don’t like the other choices on this list, or if you’re looking for a play that offers a higher payout, consider backing Martin Truex Jr.
