The 2023 Puerto Rico Open is one of the relatively newer tournaments on the PGA TOUR calendar having been inaugurated just in 2008. It used to run concurrently with the former World Golf Championship series on the TOUR and is now the alternative event alongside the more prestigious Arnold Palmer Invitational.
A huge prize purse worth $3.8 million is at stake this week in Rio Grande. That’s a $100,000 increase from last year’s installment of the event, which is still much appreciated even if the Puerto Rico Open isn’t as star-studded as its big-money counterparts.
