Wood vs. Warrington – Utilita Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England (DAZN)

• When: Saturday, October 7th, 2023. 2:00pm ET

Kieron Conway vs. Linus Udofia // WBA International Middleweight Title

Keiron “Too Class” Conway has a terrific 19-3-1 record with 4 knockout victories. Conway has won 3-of-4. The wins came against decent fighters but it was the loss that impresses most.

Kieron fell to then 11-0 Austin Williams via unanimous decision. Williams has stopped 10 of his opponents before the final bell. So Austin has power. Conway went the distance with the the title contender.

Linus Udofia doesn’t have a cool nickname like Too Class. What he does have is terrific boxing skills. Linus also has a better record than Conway, 19-1 with 8 KO or TKO wins. Versus Denzel Bentley in May 2022, Udofia battled the well-known boxer, losing via a split-decision. The favorite ekes out a victory on Saturday.

Cecelia Braekhus vs. Terri Harper // WBA World Female Super Welterweight Title

The Leeds Warrior is on this card, but Cecelia Breakhus is the fighter that deserves the moniker warrior above any other. The +420 underdog has a 37-2 record. Breakhus is 42-years-old. The fact she can compete with a much younger quality boxer like Terri Harper is incredible.

We must give Breakhus props for sure. But the champ wins this. Harper has a 14-1-1 record. Terri has knocked out 6 of her opponents. So if you want to explore a KO prop, there’s reason to do so.

Leigh Wood vs. Josh Warrington // WBA World Featherweight Title

Wood versus Warrington has the look of a fighter of the year candidate. Both are exceptionally talented boxers. The challenger, that’s Warrington, will be on a mission.

Don’t let The Leeds Warrior’s last loss bother you. Josh faced the great Luis Alberto Lopez. LAL has a style that few, if any, can handle. In his last, Lopez won a unanimous decision over Joet Gonzalez. So the fact Warrington hung with Lopez for a full 12 rounds is a testament to Josh’s abilities.

Leigh Wood has Lopez like qualities. He’s not as difficult to prepare for, but Wood can put you on your back. Wood has 16 stoppages from 27 wins. Leigh exacted revenge over Mauricio Lara in his last via unanimous decision. Wood defends his titles.

Jose Luis Sanchez vs. Eric Tudor

9-0 Eric Tudor faces the toughest test of his young career. Tudor has stopped 6 of his opponents before the final bell, but on Saturday, he takes on an opponent that has lost just once via stoppage and the loss came in 2013 versus highly regarded Josh Torres.

Luis Sanchez has a punchers chance but that’s the issue. Sanchez has just 4 stoppage wins during his career. It’s unlikely Sanchez outboxes Tudor. The youngster gets another win.

Jose Smith Jr is a quality boxer but he has only a small shot of winning this. Sure, Gilberto Ramirez lost his last.

Ah, but look at who it was against. Dmitri Bivol beat Ramirez. Gilberto stood toe-to-toe with Bivol and lasted the full fight.

On Saturday, Ramirez should go back to his knockout ways. So if you don’t want to back Gilbert on the money line, consider a KO or TKO prop.
