Why Bet on the Arizona Cardinals?

In Week 5’s battle of the big birds, The Arizona Cardinals came just short of putting an end to the Philadelphia Eagles’ unbeaten run. Philly hung on for a 20-17 road victory at Arizona with the Cards playing from behind the entire contest.

Kyler Murray had a subpar performance for his standards, completing 28 of 42 passes for 250 yards, one passing touchdown, and one interception. Murray has thrown a pick in three of his last four starts and only has one 300-yard passing game through five weeks. Starting running back James Conner started strong against the Eagles with nine carries for 55 rushing yards (6.1 YPC) but had to leave the game due to a rib injury.

On the bright side, the defense is still performing quite well. The Cards have yet to allow an opponent to score more than 23 points this season and have surrendered an average of just 18.6 points over the past three weeks despite a 1-2 record during this stretch. That being said, it’s up to Murray to revive his team’s passing game now more than ever against a rather porous Seattle defense.

Why Bet on the Seattle Seahawks?

In a game that saw six lead changes, the Seattle Seahawks ended up being on the losing side of their tense Week 5 contest against the New Orleans Saints, 39-32. That’s now three losses over the last four games for the Seahawks, who’ve been surprisingly competent despite many experts predicting them to be the worst team in the NFC during the preseason.

Veteran QB and long-time backup Geno Smith continues to impress with his smart decisions under center. Against New Orleans, Smith finished with 268 passing yards and three passing TDs with no turnovers; his second-straight week of not getting picked off. Rookie running back Kenneth Walker III also had a strong showing with 88 rushing yards on just eight carries subbing in for Rashad Penny, who suffered an injury mid-game during the loss to the Saints.

However, Seattle’s defense is still a liability, as they’re just one of two NFL teams allowing over 30 points per game to the opposition this season along with the Detroit Lions. The Seahawks are also dead-last in yards allowed to their opponents (430.0 YAPG) but their high-scoring showdown against the Lions in Week 4 does somewhat inflate the two teams’ dismal defensive stats as we speak.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks Betting Trends

  • The Cardinals are 10-1 in the last 11 regular-season road games (SU/ATS).
  • The Cards are 3-3 against Seattle since Kyler Murray’s debut season in 2019 (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in four of Arizona’s last six games on the road.
  • The Seahawks are 4-2 in the last seven home games (SU/ATS).
  • The Seahawks are 2-3 as home dogs over the last three seasons (3-2 ATS).
  • The totals went under in four of the last six meetings between these two teams.

Cardinals vs. Seahawks Expert Betting Predictions

It’s hard not to cheer for the Seahawks, who are defying the odds as a competent football team despite an obvious rebuilding season. Then again, the Cardinals have been one of the best road warriors in the NFL of late, which could spell a much-needed win for Arizona as the team looks to gain momentum anew. Depleted backfields on both sides have us leaning toward Murray winning the gunfight through the air against Smith.
