Falcons vs. Jaguars 2023 NFL Week 4 Odds, Preview & Pick

By Jeff Stinger

London is calling in Week 4, and the NFL has answered with an annual Jacksonville Jaguars home game. The Jaguars will be hosting the Atlanta Falcons this year, with the Falcons joining the Jags in the loss column this past weekend. Which team will leave the UK in much better spirits, and who’ll be staying a bit longer to sulk their loss away at a local British pub?

Nitrobetting is ready to take your bets into the end zone this 2023 NFL season. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming Week 4 international clash between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Why Bet on the Atlanta Falcons?

After scoring an average of 24.5 points per game over the first two weeks, the Atlanta Falcons saw a power outage in Week 3 after being held in check by the Detroit Lions, 20-6. Atlanta averaged merely 2.8 yards per play against Detroit, as the team lost a ton of momentum from its unlikely 2-0 start.

There’s got to be a better answer at quarterback than Desmond Ridder, who went 21-for-38 for 201 passing yards without a touchdown. Ridder also lost a fumble and couldn’t get things going through the air as the Falcons had to pay from behind for the entire game. In turn, sensational rookie running back Bijan Robinson was stifled for just 33 rushing yards on 10 carries.

Atlanta needs to get its strong running game back on the right track. However, that’ll be easier said than done, as Jacksonville has the seventh-best run defense in the league allowing just 84 rushing yards per contest to their opponents. The team’s own defense should have a better showing against a Jaguars side that struggled to produce versus the Texans.

Why Bet on the Jacksonville Jaguars?

Had it not been for other more glaring upsets from Week 3, the Jacksonville Jaguars would’ve likely garnered more heat from fans in the media for their dismal 37-17 upset defeat at the hands of the winless Houston Texans. Jacksonville is off to a 1-2 start following a promising 2022 campaign that saw them win the division and a playoff game.

Trevor Lawrence finally got his first multi-TD game of the season, finishing with 241 passing yards and two scores. However, the former first-overall pick has yet to eclipse the 300-yard passing mark as the Jags’ offense continues to sputter. Although running back Travis Etienne’s 88 rushing yards on 19 carries were nice and all, it’s Lawrence and the passing game that needs to take it up a notch.

Furthermore, Jacksonville’s defense imploded at the worst moment after a relatively strong showing last week holding the Chiefs to just 17 points. Houston converted nine of its 15 third-down attempts and got 280 yards plus two passing TDs out of C.J. Stroud. Lawrence will also have to dissect an Atlanta secondary that ranks fourth in the NFL limiting opponents to just 170 passing yards per game.

Falcons vs. Jaguars Betting Trends

  • Atlanta is currently on a seven-game road losing streak (2-5 ATS).
  • The Falcons have also lost four straight against teams from the AFC (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in each of Atlanta’s last five games on the road.
  • jacksonville is 4-5 lifetime in their London games (SU/ATS).
  • The Jags only have one win against an NFC opponent in their last 20 tries (3-17 ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of Jacksonville’s last five games played across the pond.

Falcons vs. Jaguars Expert Betting Predictions

Technically, the Jaguars are still the home team here despite the game being held in London as they’ve been here every year since team owner Shad Khan opened the doors for the NFL in Europe. However, the Jags haven’t been the best in the United Kingdom at all, and the Falcons have a stronger ground game and a defense similar to Jacksonville’s that’s decent in certain areas. Consider this an upset by Atlanta as Robinson regains his mojo en route to a triple-digit rushing afternoon.
