Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators

Colorado averages more goals per game, 4.3, than any other team in the league. On Jan. 8, the Avs beat Toronto 5-4 in overtime. Up to the Jan. 8 game, Colorado had gone a tremendous 9-1 straight up in their last 10 games. The lone loss happened versus Nashville, though. The Preds can make it two straight since this one is on Nashville’s ice.

Montreal isn’t playing well. The Canadiens are a terrible 7-23-4 heading into the week. But this is a rivalry match, which means in most games versus the Bruins, Montreal would have a shot to pull off a major upset. This season, though, a victory shouldn’t be in the cards. The last time these two threw down, the Bruins blasted the Canadiens 5-2. Expect another puck line victory from the home team.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Columbus is a .500 team at best, which means they shouldn’t play well enough on Thursday to upset the Hurricanes. Not only that, but the Blue Jackets face the Jersey Devils twice and top Stanley Cup contender Tampa before even facing Carolina on Thursday. Columbus should be a tired bunch before even landing for this one. The Hurricanes win this by at least 2.

Dallas Stars vs. Florida Panthers

St. Louis beat Dallas 2-1 on Jan. 9. The Blues’ victory broke a 4-match Stars’ winning streak. One of Dallas’ wins was 6-5 over Florida in a shootout. After that match, Florida bounced back with a very good 4-3 victory over Carolina in overtime. The Panthers should gain their revenge on Friday.

On Jan. 7, St. Louis beat Washington 5-1. Then on Jan. 9, St. Louis cooled down Dallas 2-1. Toronto had been on fire, though, winning 5 straight until the overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche. The Maple Leafs, which rank second in goals allowed with 2 per game, can pull off the likely upset victory.
