Why Bet on Stefanos Tsitsipas?

On one hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas is back at it with another deep run in the Australian Open after his strong straight-sets victory in the quarterfinal round over Czech contender Jiri Lehecka. On the other, Lehecka was not the top-tier contender that the Athens native was expecting that late into the stage in Melbourne.

Nonetheless, Tsitsipas’ dominant win continues his impressive tear across the Aussie Open, as it was his fourth straight-sets victory of the tournament. It’s worth noting, though, that the World No. 4 only faced one seeded opponent all tournament long, at it was that one match against 15th-seeded Jannik Sinner that pushed him to the full five-set limit in the fourth round.

All things considered, there’s still Tsitsipas is in prime shape to start the calendar year, winning all nine of his matches Down Under to date. Not only that but he’s also made it to the semifinal stage of the Aussie Open for the fourth time over the last five seasons. Is this finally the year that the Greek God ascends into the final round of the Aussie Open?

Why Bet on Karen Khachanov?

Making his Australian Open semifinal debut, meanwhile, is rising Russian Karen Khachanov, who was running away with the first two-and-a-half sets in the quarterfinals against Sebastian Korda before his opponent had to pull out of the contest due to injury.

Some fans would consider that an unearned win for Khachanov, but he already took the first two sets with relative ease and had a 3-0 lead in the third set before Korda bowed out of the tournament. That’s now back-to-back Grand Slam semis for Moscow native after setting a new high point in his career recently as a final four entrant in the US Open last September.

Unfortunately, Khachanov will be facing his toughest challenge of the tourney yet in Tsitsipas, whom he’s faced five times in his career and lost on all five occasions. All five of them were also straight-set rounds at the hands of Tsitsipas, with their latest encounter coming in the Rome Masters last May.

  • Tsitsipas is 53-16 in hard-court tournaments since the 2021 season.

  • Khachanov has a 25-13 record on the hard courts since the start of the previous season.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Karen Khachanov Expert Betting Prediction

The odds would indicate that this matchup does not have an overwhelming favorite considering that neither Tsitsipas nor Khachanov have hardly faced truly elite competition in Melbourne. That being said, the former’s head-to-head dominance over the latter is a foreboding stat that has us predicting win number six for Tsitsipas over Khachanov. However, we expect Khachanov to put up a valiant fight by hanging around for four sets to avoid yet another sweep against Tsitsipas.
