Wild vs. Golden Knights NHL Playoffs Odds and Game 2 Prediction — May 18th, 2021

By Hank Blaine

If there’s something we can point out from Game 1 between the Wild vs. Golden Knights was the goalkeepers. Talk about a hell of a performance from both sides. It was so good, that the final score was 1-0. It had to go into overtime for that to happen. Just by knowing that, you know that they went to war to take the lead in the series.

If we go over those goaltending stats for both teams, Minnesota’s Cam Talbot made 42 saves, while Vegas’ Marc-Andre Fleury only allowed one goal on 30 shots and did half-dozen 10-bell stops. Those stats are impressive. Though, to say it could go the same way in Game 2, it’s a hard call. But that’s what we’re here for. So let’s get tp it.

NitroBetting News goes over the highlights of the upcoming game, including recent team form, the latest NHL odds, betting trends, and betting predictions, all of which are geared to help you lock in those winning picks. Why Bet on the Minnesota Wild?

Minnesota’s stats during the regular season was fair. They obtained a shot attempt share of 46.8%, but had an expected goal rate of 52.5% at 5 on 5. Though they didn’t provide much strength in the offense, they still took advantage of great chances to score. Game 1 is the perfect example of this. At the last minute, the Wild can take the win.

As mentioned at the beginning, the goalkeeper took the prize on each side of the board in Game 1. For Cam Talbot, his performance gave him this fifth career shutout during the Stanley Cup playoffs. He also became the eighth goaltender in history to get a shutout with three different teams, the other two being Edmonton and Calgary. He will indeed be in Game 2.

Why Bet on the Vegas Golden Knights?

The Golden Knights are in their ninth postseason series and the fourth time in which they’ve loss the first game. Looking at recent history, they did bounce back to win Game 2 every time. They are no strangers to being in that position. But they do need to step it up in the offense if they want any hopes to stay in the playoffs. This young franchise keeps doing great things and can definitely make it to the finals again.

Even if he did get a goal in Game 1, you have to give it up for Marc-Andre Fleury and his amazing performance. He stopped 29 shots and is the fifth goaltender in history to appear in at least 15 straight years of being in the playoffs. He has the experience the tools to stop the Minnesota offense in Game 2. He just needs the Vegas defense to hold the line as well as they did on Sunday.

Wild vs. Golden Knights Expert Betting Predictions

Can we see Game 2 heading into overtime like Game 1? It’s probable, but unlikely. If you’re on the Vegas squad, you want to seal the deal quickly as possible and stop the Wild at any cost, especially when playing at home. But if you’re on the Minnesota squad, you can definitely feel safe when having such a great defensive line. I do have a feeling we might see a few more goals this time, but neither will go down easily. This is an interesting matchup for sure.
