Toronto Maple Leafs
Every hockey fan knows that the Toronto Maple Leafs haven’t won the Stanley Cup since 1967. But although there are numerous reasons why the Leafs haven’t won in close to 60 years, Toronto, one of the most historical franchises in the NHL, is due.
This season, the Leafs again boast a deep and talented crew. Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and John Tavares, Toronto’s core four, remain. Although the Leafs lost some decent players like Ryan O’Reilly and Luke Schenn, Toronto replaced the losses with solid additions like Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi.
Those additions should help the Maple Leafs get by defending conference winner Florida and the always dangerous Tampa Bay Lightning to win the East. Then, it will be a matter of nailing down a Cup victory.

Edmonton Oilers
Per most hockey fans, Edmonton boasts the two best player on the planet in Conor McDavid and Leo Draisaitl. But even with those two in the lineup, the Oilers have failed to even make it to a Stanley Cup, much less win a Cup.
This season, Edmonton’s defense should be almost on par with the offense. In 6 preseason games, the Oilers allowed 2 goals once, 1 goal in 4 games, and shut out Winnipeg in another.
If the D is as tight as the O, watch out. Draisaitl and McDavid are both unstoppable. So Edmonton could be in line for a Stanley Cup run.

Vegas Golden Knights
The defending champs didn’t lose enough to fall to +1300. It’s tough to repeat in hockey. However, Vegas didn’t just win the Stanley Cup last season, the Knights dominated, beating Florida 4 games to 1.
Overall, the Knights went an amazing 16-6 in the playoffs last season. For sure, winning the Cup in 2024 will be more difficult than it was winning in 2023. But the Knights remain hungry and, again, they destroyed their playoff opponents.
Top Underdog Pick to Win the 2024 Stanley Cup
New York Islanders
Most hockey fans rank goalie Ilya Sorokin the best in the league. Sorokin, a 28-year-old from Russia went 31-22-7 last season and allowed 2.34 goals on average per match. When Sorokin sits, Semyon Varlamov sits in goal. Varlamov would start for any other NHL team.
Goalie isn’t the only reason to like the Islanders. Star Matthew Barzal sat for 23 games in the second half of the season. A healthy Barzal this season could make all the difference.
Also, the odds are much too high on NYI to lift Lord Stanley’s Cup. At +4500, NYI is a must look if you’re an underdog player.
